Pee Dee
Jazzband
blev samlet i 1980 af Preben "Pee Dee" Danielsen, og
har siden midten af 1980'erne bestået af 6 musikere.
Bandet
fremstår med en sound som ligger tæt op ad dixielandjazzen
men stadig med respekt for den gamle New Orleans Jazz som Armstrong,
Bechet og Clarence Williams var exponenter for.
Igennem årene
har bandet haft en masse dejlige oplevelser via festivaler hvor
blandt andre Guinness Jazzfestival i Cork har været
et af højdepunkterne. Pee Dee Jazzband har deltaget i
festivalen i årene fra 1991 til 2000.

har bandet deltaget i Askersund Jazzfestival i Sverige:
1990-1991, Bergen i Holland:1992, de danske Riverboat
Jazzfestival:1996-1997, Femø Jazzfestival:
1993, Maribo Jazzfestival: 1987-2000 og Allinge
Jazzfestival: 1999-2000. |
Et andet højdepunkt
var et trip til New Orleans, hvor bandet spillede i New
Orleans Jazzclub foruden forskellige steder i byen. Bandet
havde et fast uge-engagement i Fritzel's european jazz pub på
Bourbon Street. Bandet fik også lejlighed til at sidde
ind i flere bands som f.eks. Jaques Gauthe's & his Creole
Rice Jazz Band og The Dukes Of Dixieland. Pee Dee Jazzband's
medlemmer blev på denne tur æresborgere i New Orleans
ved et besøg hos borgmesteren.
Da Pee De Jazzband
deltog i Maribo Jazzfestival i 1989 blev et møde med klarinettisten Monty Sunshine,
som spillede
med Chris Barber i 1950'erne, starten på et længere
samarbejde. Monty deltog med Pee Dee's "10 års
jubilee tour" i 1991 og igen i 1996 hvor bandet havde en
"15 års lubilee tour". Igen i 1997 stod Monty
på scenen sammen med Pee Dee Jazzband ved Guinness Jazzfestival
i Cork, Irland.

Pee Dee Jazzband was founded
in 1980 by Preben "Pee Dee" Danielsen and has since
the middle of the 80'ies consisted of 6 musicians. The band appears
today with a sound close to dixieland-jazz but still respecting
the old New Orleans veterans like Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet
and Clarence Williams.
Through the years the band
has had a lot of fine experiences, the Guinness Jazzfestival
Cork, Ireland being one of the highlights from 1991 to 2001.
Further the band has taken
part in Jazzfestivals in Sweden ( Askersund ) and Holland (
Bergen ) plus several Danish Festivals from 1987 to 2000 ( Riverboat,
Femø, Maribo and Allinge ).

Another climax was a trip to
New Orleans, where the band played in N. O. Jazzclub and other
places in the town. The band had a weekly engagement at Fritzel's
europeans jazz pub on Bourbon Street and got the opportunity
to sit in with other bands as Jacques Gautier and his Creole
Rise Jazzband and the Dukes Of Dixieland.
The members of the band became
citizens of honour in New Orleans during a visit at the Mayor's.
On the Jazzfestival at Maribo
1989 the band made the acquaintance with the British Clarinetist
Monty Sunshine who played with Chris Barber in the 50'ies. It
was the starting of a long term collaboration. Monty took part
in Pee Dee "10 years Jubilee Tour" in 1991 and again
in 1996 when the band celebrated the "15 years Jubilee Tour".
Again in 1997 Monty was on stage with "Pee Dee" at
The Guinness Jazzfestival Cork, Ireland. |

Die Jazzband
erscheint heute besserals vorher mit einem "Sound"
Dixieland Art wo man auch Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet und
Clarence Williams verspurt.
Durch viele
Jahren hat man viele gute Erlebnisse gehabt durch die verschiedenen
Jazzfestivals ( Guinness, Cork, Ireland; Askersund, Schweden;
und andere Festivals in Holland und Danemark. |
Ein Hohepunkt
waren Besuch in New Orleans mit wochenlangem ERngagement bei
"Fritzel's" in Bourbon Street mit Gelegenheit auch
mit anderen Bands zu spielen (u.a. Jacques Gautier und "Dukes
Of Dixieland") anderswo in der Stadt.
Die Mitglieder
der Band wurden Ehrenburger in New Orleans bei einem Besuch bei
dem Burgermeister.
Die Pee
Dee Jazzband hatmit dem englischen Chris Barber klarinettisten
Monty Sunshine Zusammenarbeitet. Das dauerte von 1989 bis 1997-
das letzte Mal am Guinness Jazzfestival in Cork, Ireland. |
